However, some people may not have sufficient hair on their head for transplanting procedure. In such case, the body hairs can be utilized for hair transplant procedure as long as the quality and structure of those body hairs are similar to the head hairs. the possible body parts are a face, limbs, the back, the stomach, the armpits, the chest and so forth.

A high amount of body hair can contribute to hair transplant procedure as the additional hair grafts material source. The harvested body hair will be transplanted especially into the crown area of your head. It’s only possible as you have a very limited donor hair on your scalp. Even though it’s a solution, transplanting body hair may not result in full hair restoration similar to generic hair transplant. the FUE method is usually used to harvest the hair follicles from the body part. Insufficiency of head hair donor may be generated by normal-total hair loss or previous hair transplant procedure where the harvesting takes most hair donor available in the head. This condition makes the patients not eligible to take a normal hair transplant procedure. However, it should be noted that head hair donor is the most eligible material for hair transplant. Thus, it should be also understood that body hair transplant may generate an unsatisfying result. It’s due to the fact that the body hair follicles may not perform normal head hair growth. Thus, most doctors will only use the body hair donor for additional implanting. In addition, as it may be taken from your arm or legs, scaring will be obvious and disturb your appearance.

First, the follicular units should be more than 40 per cm2. Second, the body hair should have high similarity with the head hair. Third, each follicular unit should contain two or three hair grafts. Fourth, the size of donor area should be considered which may represent donor sufficiency. Fifth, the body hair should at least be long enough to perform similar growth with the head hair.
