Before the actual surgery we will send you a health questionnaire to check on your personal situation. One week before the operation you should stop taking vitamin tablets, anti-inflammatory medication and alcohol. For patients who are older than 45 we do recommend an electrocardiogram (ECG). We would require the results of the ECG at least 10 days before the surgery.

How to care for your FUE grafts after surgery. It is crucial that you avoid contact with your new grafts first 2 days. At this point the grafts will be secure and it is normal to then see the transplanted hairs begin to shed. You can touch your head gently during the washing.

With the motorised FUE method we can extract and implant up to 3000 grafts per day. With the manual method we can do 1500 grafts per day.

Approximately 10 days after the operation the crusts on your head will disappear and the swelling will go back. A few weeks after the surgery the newly transplanted hair will fall out which is a completely normal part of the process. Your hair will be stronger and denser over the course of the next few months. Only one year after the operation you will have reached the final result of your transplantation.

You should not do any sports during the first 14 days after the treatment. You can swim in the sea after 20 days but should not swim in a pool and visit a sauna or a spa within the first two months of the operation. Direct sunlight is not recommended during the first 14 days. A hair cut is possible four weeks after the hair transplantation.

The hair that we transplant comes from an area on your head where there will be no hair loss until the rest of your life. Even men in their 70’s usually have a rim of hair left in that area which is why we consider this to be our donor area. The implants that we take from that area will stay strong and healthy until the rest of your life.

Risks of Transplant Surgery
Hair transplantation is generally considered safe, but risks include: Infection. Bleeding and some scarring. Patchy hair growth, which can often be corrected. The risks can be reduced if your hair transplant surgeon is enoug experienced.

Most people are able to return to work 2 to 5 days after the operation. Within 2 to 3 weeks after surgery, the transplanted hair will fall out, but you should start to notice new growth within a few months. Most people will see 60% of new hair growth after 6 to 9 months. The full growth can be seen after 12 months.

Work and Exercise after the Hair Transplant Procedure
Avoid hard work and exercising for one week after the procedure. Avoid weight lifting, or carrying high weights for 10 to 14 days after the procedure. Avoid saunas steam and sun baths for at least three weeks. Avoid swimming for 1 month after the procedure.

When You Can Wear Your Hat
It is not recommended to wear a hat first 2 days. Once the grafts have become a permanent part of your scalp, you can wear a hat. While 7 to 14 days is an average, different surgeons have different protocols. Some hair loss specialists recommend waiting as long as 3 weeks before wearing a hat to ensure that the grafts are completely anchored.

It is better to avoid contact with your head for 5 days after the operation. Transplanted grafts will become strongerduring the first week, and they won’t fall by touching. You should avoid scratching. 4-5 days after the operation, hair in the transplanted area will start to fall down and this will continue for 2-3 months.

Post op hair washing after a FUE hair transplant.
You are not required to wash your hair for the first 24 hours after surgery. On the second to fifth days after surgery you may wash your hair by pouring cups of very dilute shampoo and water over your grafts and donor area. You will be recommended to wash your head with special products that help to clean the scabs.

Starting on Day 3 after your hair transplant, you may begin to wash your hair. Be very gentle when washing your hair for the first 5 days. A gentle hair wash will not hurt the newly implanted follicles, but be careful. Too much scrubbing might dislodge a graft, which you don’t want. Patients are crecommended to treat transplanted area with special products for first 10 days.

Hair transplants are typically more successful than over-the-counter hair restoration products. But there are some factors to consider: Anywhere from 45 to 70 percent of transplanted hair will fully grow back in an estimated three to four months.

It is recommended to avoid sweating for 2 weeks after the operation. In this period some light, non-strenuous activity such as yoga or gentle walking is usually permissible, but you should avoid running or cardio exercise which can cause sweating or a significant increase in blood pressure.

The extracted hair follicles usually don’t grow back. But the extraction is done randomly, so patients don’t have patches or scars in the donor area after the operation.

2000-3500 Hair Grafts
Hair grafts between 2000 and 3000 are appropriate when the patient has significant hair loss on the sides, frontal or middle scalp and crown of the head. This number of hair grafts is a normal amount needed to restore hair loss and achieve a natural look. This amount of hair grafts can be transplanted in one session.

Achieving natural-looking density for patients with advanced baldness can be reached through a second or multiple transplant sessions. The donor area is limited as only 1500-4000 grafts can be harvested safely in one session. Any grafts outside the safe donor zone will yield hairs that are likely to thin and be lost eventually.

Consuming alcoholic beverages is not recommended for 6 days after hairtransplant as it may cause bleeding of donor area.
